At this time of year particularly, when so many helpless orphans are brought to us here at the Centre, we are extremely grateful to have the means - in terms of funds, space, and manpower - to take them in. The challenge is that those resources are not unlimited and there comes a point when we have to turn some away, as much as we hate to do it. That is a fact we have to live with, but today I want to focus on the positive side, and give thanks to everyone who helps us do what we do; those who contribute financially and those who give of their precious time, as volunteers. We so appreciate you all.

I'd like to highlight a couple of organizations who recently pulled together to make Procyon the recipient of their generosity. One is the team at Furnal Equinox, who's continuing support allowed us to build and equip a new medical trailer. Thank you team!! The other is GFL, who allowed us to speak to their team about our mission, and gave generously in response! Thank you all! You can read a little about each of these wonderful contributors below .

If you'd like to contribute to Procyon's continuing efforts to rescue wildlife, and enjoy an evening of art at the same time, join us for a Paint Party this Friday evening at Silverbrook Farm from 6:30 to 10. Thanks go out to Norma Rayner for hosting this wonderful event! Hope to see you there!

Please see Jen Howard's latest Animal Updates to take a peek at some of the beauties we are busy looking after today. And Procyon Custodian Debra Spilar shares some information about the feisty little baby minks we have in our care this spring.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming the amazing team from Furnal Equinox to Procyon Wildlife for a special tour of the centre and a chance to see firsthand the incredible impact they’ve had on our wildlife patients. Procyon Wildlife was honoured to be Furnal Equinox’s charity of choice for 2025, and thanks to the generosity of their community and …

May has been a crazy month. We’ve had to stop admissions a couple of times due to the shelter being at full capacity. Baby animals are very demanding little tykes. We can only care for the lives we have enough volunteers to look after them with. It’s as hard on …

Did you know that wild mink are some of the most fascinating little predators in Canada?
|
And right now at Procyon Wildlife, we are experiencing something very special…
|
This season, we have the MOST baby mink we’ve ever had in a single year!
|
The American mink is a member of the weasel family and is perfectly adapted for both land and water.
|
|
Baby mink, also called kits, are born tiny, blind, and completely dependent on their mother. In the wild, they stay in the den for several weeks before their eyes open. As they grow, they quickly become energetic, curious, and surprisingly feisty.

We currently do not have a rescue team to pick up animals that are injured or in distress. Unfortunately, we do not have the people and money needed to provide this service. Please contact your local animal control. The animal must already have been contained and arrangements made with us to receive the animal.
