Our first orphan of the season, a tiny female raccoon, the sole survivor of her litter, arrived at Procyon on March 30th. They have been coming in steadily ever since. As a matter of fact, as of this writing, we have admitted 116 babies already; 46 baby raccoons, 53 baby rabbits, 13 baby squirrels, 2 fox kits, 1 baby rat, and 1 baby deer mouse. Every little life is important to us.

Caring for these vulnerable, wild lives is both a challenge and a privilege, and now is the perfect time to get involved. We are always looking for compassionate volunteers to join our team. If you love wildlife and have a little spare time, we would love to hear from you. No experience is needed, we will teach you everything you need to know.
This month, Procyon volunteer and Director, Sarah Marrs-Bruce, tells the story of Juniper, the Coyote who was found hanging from a fence, and was saved by some caring individuals quickly making a call to Procyon. Volunteer and photographer Jen Howard, mentions some of the orphans and upcoming releases in her Animal Updates. She also speaks to how the practice of relocating adults can create orphans. And in her article, "Here They Come!", she introduces us to the fragile world of Ontario turtles and how you may be able to help.
And remember, if you’re interested in joining us this baby season, please reach out to Linda info@procyonwildlife.com or go to the website here to learn more about volunteering with us, and fill out an application! — we’d love to welcome you to the team!
