The Procyon Post: What's New! Volume 8, Issue 2, February 2026

Dear reader,

As a rather difficult January comes to an end, Jen Howard, Procyon volunteer and photographer, discusses the extreme weather's impact on the wildlife who share this environment with us. In her Animal Update we learn of 51 new admissions. And her article Winter and Wildlife, forces us to consider whether or not feeding wild animals is actually helping them.

As has often been mentioned, the Procyon Wildlife Centre is always in need of more volunteers. If you have ever considered volunteering, now is your chance to meet us and ask questions in person at the Annual Volunteer Fair in Alliston. It's being held at the Alliston Memorial Arena on Nelson Street on February 7th from 10am until 2pm.

Procyon Wildlife is also excited to be a part of the 2nd Annual "Fuelled by Females" Celebration of Women’s Day. Join us for a one-day experience celebrating women, wellness, creativity, and community with over 60 female entrepreneurs from across South Simcoe. This event will be held on March 7 from 10am to 4pm at The Gibson Centre, Alliston. There will be a Makers Market, Hands-on Workshops, Yoga, QiGong, Soundbaths, Healing Den (Individual Appointments) Tarot, Rune & Oracle Readings, Ladies Lounge with Breakfast Bar & Live Waffle Station. More info below. Visit www.fuelledbyfemales.com for tickets.

And don't forget to join us at Bingo World, located at: 1230 Kerrisdale Blvd., Newmarket, ON L3Y 8Z9. If you are new to bingo and would like to learn more, visit:https://www.bingoworld.ca/newmarket/new-to-bingo
Come out and come often for exciting evenings at Bingo World Newmarket and support wildlife in need while enjoying a great night out.

Also, please check our map to see if Procyon Wildlife falls within your geographical area. Check the map here. If you are outside of the area, please check this list of Ontario wildlife rehabbers for the one closest to you.
Our telephone operators return calls from 10 am to 5 pm daily. If you are calling outside of business hours, please do not leave multiple messages. You will be called back the following morning. You will be given a phone number to call upon your arrival with strict instructions to be followed.
