These two rabbits are the same age. One was confirmed orphaned and brought in right away and one was kept for five days and fed what Google told them to feed. Can you guess which is which?
Sadly, we see this too often. Commercial milk/puppy/kitten formula is NOT biologically appropriate for the MAJORITY of species of wildlife. We want you to think particularly about feeding kitten formula that is specifically formulated for growing carnivores (cats) being used to feed rabbits, who are herbivores. This is what Google and AI “recommends” as safe.
They do not have the same needs. This formula will starve them of proper nutrients and most likely kill them. The rabbit on the left did not survive. The rabbit on the right was able to be raised by us using appropriate formula and techniques and was released.
We know they are cute. But PLEASE. If you care about these animals, get them to a rehabber.
