Baby Norway Rats

Mid month we admitted 12 baby Norway rats. Yes, you heard that right. Orphaned, these eyes closed babies needed help fast. Only one was lost, due to its poor condition. These wee ones are now seeing the world for the first time – eyes newly opened. They are never still, sniffing, exploring and starting to eat real food along with their formula feedings. They are adorable wee babes doing well. Moved up to a little bigger cage to give them space they are real adventurers. They love their hammock and they love corn.
Mangy Red Squirrels

3 young red squirrels came in totally naked due to mange. They are slowly improving having been given good food and mange meds. Now their fur is slowly starting to grow back in, they are looking as cute as ever, and vocalizing to tell us their stories. And they have lots of stories to tell. They just got moved into a larger enclosure as well to explore and find adventure.

Great Horned Owl
This beauty got clipped by a car leaving her with injuries to her eyes. She is under veterinary care and on meds. Not out of the woods yet she will continue on vet care. She can not see at the moment. An owl needs one eye to survive so keeping our fingers crossed. Her prognosis is still quite guarded at this time with care ongoing. Please watch out for these birds. See my article “Let’s Talk Owls” for more info.
