Finally, a hard-won victory for wild animals. On March 7, 2024 Health Canada announced it’s decision to cancel all uses of strychnine in Canada. It will continue registration of Compound 1080 provided that additional risk-reduction measures are put in place. You can read the summary of that decision here.

Thank you to all who took our advice and wrote letters and made calls to convince the Pest Management Regulatory Agency to cancel the use of these cruel poisons!

Many animal welfare groups have been working for years to stop the use of lethal poisons. We thank them for their hard work and dedication to the animals. Finally it has paid off.
