More bats admitted to Procyon than usual

At the moment, we have more bats at Procyon, than we usually have. They appeared to have awakened and opted to end up in people’s homes. With the cold, snowy weather we are having, they just might be enjoying those blankets.

Bats can survive for long periods of time when they go into hibernation, also known as torpor. Their metabolic rate, heart rate, and respiratory rate become very low. They can be in torpor for just a few hours to save energy or even up to a month while hibernating during the winter.
